The Labour Force Survey (LFS) is a household survey carried out by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) in conjunction with the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. There have been successive surveys carried out in 2005, 2008 and 2012. On 20th January 2016, The Ministry of Labour and Social Security through CSO launched the 2014 Labour Force Survey Report. Some of the objectives of this survey are to assess the levels of employment to inform policy, to measure the size of the employed population (formal and informal sectors) and to measure income levels among the paid employees (self employed and employers). The LFS provides key indicators of the Zambian labour market. These include but are not limited to; unemployment rate, participation, and employment to population ratio amongst others.
